Stars Hire Lindy Ruff to be New Head Coach

ESPN reported today an agreement was made between Lindy Ruff and the Dallas Stars.

Here’s the story

After what seemed like an eternity, the Dallas Stars and new General Manager, Jim Nill, hired Lindy Ruff to be the new head coach. Ruff previously coached in Buffalo for the past 14 years. He led the charge against the legitimacy of the Dallas Stars lone Stanley Cup win over Ruff’s Buffalo Sabres.

When questioned about joining the Stars (implying a grudge for the controversial goal the Stars scored to win the series over the Sabres) Ruff replied,

“We can’t meet in the crease.”

Referring to the famous Brett Hull goal.

The Dallas Stars have struggled the past few seasons. The Stars have missed the playoffs for the past five seasons. Sales, attendance, and TV ratings have struggled as a result. Lindy Ruff arrives as the Sabres winningest coach. He lead his team to the playoffs 8 times and collected a 571-432-162 record in the process. The hire was not very surprising to many analysts who correctly predicted a Nill and Ruff marriage in Dallas weeks ago.

Although in full disclosure, This site predicted after speaking with Ruff, Dallas would wait to see if former Stars head coach, Dave Tippett ever became available. We see now, the Stars did not wait, and Jim Nill got his man. This is a good day in Dallas. Fans rejoice! The rebuilding has begun!
