A fun weekend in Detroit awaits us (words never before said). Ok, great baseball with the Detroit Tigers await Rangers fans this weekend (That’s better). Once again this is all about pitching. Being so close to the All-star break and the trade deadline, this is a time Starting Pitchers must prove themselves.
Justin Grimm pitches on Friday to start things out. Rangers are really just hoping for a quality start from him. Anything else would just be gravy. As injured players begin returning to the Rangers rotation Grimm will probably be exiting “stage right”.
The Rangers are thinking long and hard about their rotation for the playoffs and barring a catastrophe to other Rangers’ pitchers, Grimm doesn’t fit. Expect a trade to bring in a new arm.
Saturday and Sunday feature pitchers who are possibly the biggest factors when Jon Daniels looks for trades these next days. Holland seems to be back on track and a sure playoff pitcher. He will face UNDEFEATED Tiger pitcher, Max Scherzer on Saturday. This would be a great game for Holland and the Rangers to win in Detroit. Find a way to watch this game.
On Sunday Martin Perez will face pitching ace, Justin Verlander. This will be a big test for Perez and the Rangers lineup. The way it looks the Rangers may be lucky to get through this weekend with 1-2 record.

The FC Dallas slide continues as they fail to win once again. After closing out their worst month of the season in June, FC Dallas continued their sloppy play and lost to the LA Galaxy. The question at this point is, “are FC Dallas the team we saw lead the league the first part of the season, or the team we’ve watched recently lose virtually every game possible. It’s tough times for FC Dallas but this is when team character is made.
Saturday should provide an excellent opportunity to stop the slide and get back on course.
