The Rangers and FC Dallas are both positioned for playoff runs but need to push through this rough stretch to be considered real contenders. FC Dallas continues its painful winless streak while the Rangers are just trying to find enough uninjured players to field a team.
So much can change in a week. The Texas Rangers exited the All-Star break uninspired and sloppy. They were swept over the weekend and fell further behind the A’s in the AL West race. One mega trade later and they are right back in this thing. The Matt Garza acquisition mortgaged some future for whole lotta “right now”. Check out this column about my thoughts on the trade.
With the strong rotation and stellar bullpen the Rangers are in great shape moving forward. That might not be all either, the Rangers are on the lookout for added bats to add to the order and maybe looking to make one more trade before the deadline. If not, Manny Ramirez may have chip in because (I can’t believe I’m saying this about the Rangers) they need offense desperately.
This weekend the Rangers travel to Cleveland to battle the Indians. Perez, Darvish, and Holland will be taking the mound so it should certainly be something worth watching. Garza breathed some life in this club but he can’t do it all by himself. The Rangers need to close this gap sooner rather than later. A Wild Card spot can’t be the goal.
At Cleveland 7:05pm

The slide for FC Dallas has been severe. FC Dallas has not won since 6/12 and needs to get back on track yesterday. Possibly a friendly with Stoke City can set them on the right track. This game should cut the tension on the winless streak and be generally fun atmosphere so check it out.
Vs. Stoke City 8:00
