Should the Texas Rangers Fans Just Give Up?

Texas Rangers Mailbag:

This is (BS). The Rangers are supposedly all good now that the losing streak ended? Yes, they won but it was only a game. Then they lost again. The Rangers had the division and then gave it up. They fell apart just like the Cowboys!

It’s tough to pick the appropriate emotional  response to the way the Rangers are playing this September. I’m riding an emotional rollercoaster as are most Ranger’s fans. You appear to have given up. There’s nothing wrong with that – it’s totally understandable. It’s just you’ve invested so much why not just stick around to see it through?

Consider your fandom a game of Texas Hold’em. You have majority of your chips in the game and have seen it through the flop and the turn. Things looked great at the start but have been evening out as the game progresses. You still have a solid statistical chance of winning but your disheartened by the way the game has gone. Do you give up even if you have just as good of odds as anyone else? Or do you pony up the last bit of cash in order to see that last card?

That’s basically what I’m doing. Like you I have been extremely disappointed in the way this season is wrapping up. I expected much better things for this club in 2013. But I’ve invested so much I can’t give up now. It only costs a little more to stumble through the final weeks with a little naivety and optimism.

The Rangers are built for the postseason and could cause a lot of damage if they make it. That’s a big “if” but still. Stick with your team for just a couple more weeks. What more do you have to lose?
