The Texas Rangers are Only Five Games Away

The season is winding down and only five games remain for the Rangers to win one of the Wild Card spots. With the 3-2 victory last night against the Astros, the Rangers stay a game behind Cleveland, who hold the final Wild Card spot.

Cleveland has a ridiculously easy schedule going forward. They face the 65-90 Twins and the 61-94 White Sox. Both teams are horrible and no-doubt looking forward to the offseason.  The Rangers play the Astros one more time tonight and then they face off against the 76-79 LA Angels.  The Angels are much better than their record implies and being extra-hated division rivals, those Angels would love to destroy the Rangers postseason chances.

The Rangers no longer control their own destiny and will require a little help from Cleveland and/or Tampa Bay in these final five games. If the Rangers complete the sweep against the Astros tonight, they will be well positioned to stay in the hunt. At the very most, the Rangers can probably only afford to lose one game this last week of the season.
