Dear Monte Kiffin: These Next Two Games Are On You!

Lets face it folks, Jason Garrett is not being rewarded for his faith in hiring Monte Kiffin.  Rob Ryan’s defense was playing better then this last year and that was with half of the playmakers on defense injured.  It is now time for something to give here, it does not matter how good the offense plays in these games.  If the defense is going to give up 400 yard passers as a norm, then the Cowboys are doomed.

I realize the Broncos are an extraordinary team that is impossible to stop.  In these next two games however, Kiffin has to get his things in order if you know what I mean.  He was brought in to slow down these read-option teams like the Redskins that killed us last year.  He has to earn his keep and he has to do it in these next two games.

This season could be in dire straights if we don’t get some wins accumilating before the bye week.  Rob Ryan took all kinds of heat for not adjusting his scheme to the players on his squad.  Guess what?  Thats exactly the problem that Kiffin is having and so far he is doing a bad job in managing it.

His players are constantly out of position and there are massive holes in the zones that Quarterbacks have been feasting on.  Kiffin has to make some adjustments because this is not the Seahawks defense that the players were told to study.  This is an out-dated Tampa 2 defense that is in a different league now.  This is now a passing league, the Trent Dilfers and Brad Johnson’s are not winning Super Bowls these days.

Now I am sure that Monte Kiffin is a smart man and I am not saying that he is washed up or that he does not know what he is doing.  What I am saying is that he has to look at his squad and run his scheme according to his players.  Bruce Carter, a guy with tons of promise and all the skill in the world, is now being benched.  Morris Claiborne is regressing at a scary rate.  Something has to change here, you cannot have young, promising players regressing due to scheme.

So I say to you Mr. Kiffin you need to fix this and you have this week to do so.  If the Cowboys lose one, or both of these next two games due to crappy defense then you have some explaining to do.  Good Luck to you sir!
