Dallas Cowboys Need To Ditch The Zone Until After The Bye

The Cowboys have an important but tough stretch of games coming up before the bye.  They face the Eagles today who are more than capable of lighting up the scoreboard.  If the Cowboys choose to play a large dose of zone coverage in the Secondary then it could be a long day.

Dallas does not have the pass-rush to make the zone effective, they cannot allow Foles to sit back there and find soft spots in the zone.  Their only hope on Defense is to let these Corners do what they do best and that is to jam the receivers at the line.  They will probably have to blitz more and thats probably not a bad idea.

It seems like the Cowboys are still trying to find their identity on Defense, and that will be alot harder with the injuries to the D-line so it makes sense to play to the Players strengths.

There is a really strong possibilty that the Eagles will run the ball very well against the Cowboys so if I were them I would load the box on almost every play.  Foles does not do the best job when blitzed anyhow, and besides what do they have to lose?

The only chance the Cowboys have of making something of this Season is to pressure the opposing QB and the only way to do that is to bring extra guys.  This Season can’t be on the Offense the whole way through.

Until they get Ware back and until this Defense gets more comfortable to the scheme in general (specifically the secondary),  Kiffin needs to switch things up.  These Offenses that they will be facing in the next Month are very dangerous, except for the Vikings I suppose.  They cannot afford a rough stretch before the bye because they have plenty of tough games after the bye as well.

The Defense played better against Washington and they also played more man-coverage.  They must find a way to get more consistant in a hurry.  With the problems that they have had I think it is time to load the box and let these Corners do what they do best.

Like I said before they have nothing to lose.
