Byrd Flies High in University of North Texas Win

Brandin Byrd had an amazing day against Tulsa as the Mean Green rolls, winning 42-10. Brandin Byrd carried the ball 26 times for 251 yards and scoring 3 times. His second touchdown came on a 91 yard run in the second quarter. This season Byrd has rushed for 772 yards and 8 TDs.

In the second quarter Mike Marshall of UNT blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. The Mean Green never looked back after that touchdown made the score 14-10. Antoinne Jimmerson added 85 yards and 2 TDs to the Mean Green rushing attack as they outgained Tulsa 372-80 on the ground.

In the Mean Green’s first season in C-USA they are heading to a Bowl. Coach Dan McCarney has turned around the NCAAs most losing team from 2005-2011 and built them into a respected program seemingly overnight. After going 13 of 71 in the previous six years, Coach McCarney has gone 16-19 and this season with 8 wins is only the 13th time UNT football has topped 8 wins.

Congratulations to Coach McCarney and the Mean Green for an absolutely fabulous season. Next up for the Mean Green, bowl game.
