Jakes Takes: Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys

Talk about tough times for two of the League’s most storied franchises. The loser of this game can start focusing on the Draft and which players to cut-loose after the season. The Packers have been without Aaron Rodgers for over a month and it looks like he will miss this game against the Cowboys as well. Although that might not matter against this Cowboys defense, the Packers could roll out Jemarcus Russell and have a 600 yard day.

That brings us to the deciding factor in this game, can the Dallas defense make enough stops to win?  The Cowboys defense has had a couple of decent games this year, but the bad ones were so bad that it’s hard to see any positives at all. The Chicago game was inexcusable and it came at the worst possible time, so who’s to say that it wont continue to happen? If I see Jeff Heath or Ernie Sims on the field again for the Cowboys then I’ll be changing the channel, it has become impossible to watch this unit for even a series.

The truth of the matter is that the Packers defense kind of sucks too so this could be a high-scoring affair. Whichever unit can make a couple of stands or get an interception will give their team a big-time advantage. Weather will not be factor here and you have to assume that this game will have a playoff atmosphere and it should be fun to watch.

It will also be interesting to see if Demarcus Ware can back up some of his talk this week. He is the only member of that defense that has the ability to make them better, he has to find a way to make a difference and it starts on Sunday.

Key Cowboy: Tony Romo has to play flawless football from here on out, this team needs him to carry them to the promised land.

Prediction: Matt Flynn receives Hall Of Fame consideration after this one but the Cowboys find a way to win and stay alive, Cowboys beat the Packers 34-21
