Dallas Cowboys: The Coaching Search Must Begin

Nov 28, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (9) talks with head coach Jason Garrett during a time out against the Oakland Raiders during a NFL football game on Thanksgiving at AT

I have sat through some bad Dallas Cowboys seasons, seasons where I knew they didnt really have a chance to do anything at all. The end of the Troy Aikman era was a pretty depressing time, and by the length of his retirement press conference, it was for him too. This season, the 2013 edition, has been one of the most frustrating and demoralizing that I can recall. I have never seen a team this dumb in my life. They managed this stupidity against Detroit last year (and this one too I suppose), thats the irritating part, these guys dont learn from past mistakes.

All it would have taken to beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, is for one of the Three Muskateers (Garrett, Callahan, and Romo) to say, “hey, lets just run the friggin ball”. That was all I kept yelling at the T.V. was “RUN THE BLEEPIN BALL!!!” It wasnt just at the end of the game either, they should have run it in the first half already. They were settling for feild-goals because they would not for the life of them run the ball. How hopeless and stupid can you get, if you CAN run the ball well, but still WONT? There is no hope for this staff, they should have learned by now.

Dec 15, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Bill Callahan prior to the game against the Green Bay Packers at AT

I can’t stand either of these co-ordinators (Callahan, Kiffin), but I liked Jason Garrett. The team always played hard for him and it seemed that he was a great motivator. We are now far to late in the game for things like this to happen. Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, the Dallas Cowboys have to look for a new Head Coach. This team is an embarassment, they missed opportunities early on in the season to win some games and that has been the story of this regime.

There are things that wont change, Jerry Jones and Tony Romo are not going anywhere anytime soon. What can change, however, needs to change. It would be really refreshing to see an all out purge of this team. A new coaching staff and new players. Rebuilding right now would not be a bad idea, the core of this team is now used to blowing games and underachieving, its time to seperate that core. To think that one day they will just get over that hump and be winners, well frankly I’m done with that notion.

To run the ball 7 times in the second half with that kind of a lead is foolish and there is no doubt that heads will roll, no matter what Jerry says.

Perplexing Extras

We all know about the stupidity involved in the run game but what happened to Tony Romo’s long ball? They have been dinking and dunking so long that they cant connect on the long ball anymore, very irritating.

Everyone associated with this defense should be banned from the NFL for 5 years.

How we ended up with guys like Jeff Heath and Cameron Lawrence on the field is disturbing.

Miles Austin will be hard pressed to find a job flipping burgers after this year, throw Demarcus Ware into that conversation as well.

You lose all credibility when you slam D-Ware.

Jason Garrett should have never been named head coach anyway. He wasn’t even a good coordinator. His best year was his first year when spagnolo was here after that the offense became very predictable

Whatever happens, JG and Kiffin must go. Heath, Lawerance, Webb, etc are special team players. The real problem beyond Jerry’s ego is Garrett. He is unqualified to be a coach in the NFL. He is out coach every week, doesn’t learn from his mistakes, can’t make adjustments. His errors cost this team 2 wins a year. Those 2 wins keep Dallas out of the playoffs every year.
