The good news: Dallas is on a 1-game winning streak. The bad news: This is only a 1 game winning streak and only the second 1 game winning streak in 2014. It’s true, the Stars have struggled mightily in 2014 but every win still counts and there is plenty of hockey to be played in 2014.

Tonight Dallas (22-20-8)host the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs (27-20-5). The Leafs have won six in a row and look to take advantage of Dallas’ struggling offense and defense.

The key to the game is stopping the Toronto top line of Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk, and  Tyler Bozak. Kessel leads the team with 26 goals and 26 assists and has logged 5 goals in just the past four games. Bozak, now fully back from injury, cannot be taken lightly and has been on a recent hot streak himself. Finally, van Riemsdyk is currently at 20 goals and 19 assists for the season.

The Stars offense has sputtered in 2014 and with an already suspect and heavily injured defense, the Stars Freefall of ’14 in underway. Currently sitting in 5th place (and only a point ahead of last place) in the Central Division the Stars need to correct course quickly.
