If you Google “Dirk Nowitzki nicknames” you will find plenty of options to describe number 41. Dirk Diggler, The Dunking Deutschman, The German Wunderkind, and The Germanator were some of my favorites. Any one of those would look great if the Mavs ever have to wear those dumb nickname jerseys.

I usually prefer calling the greatest Maverick ever either The Big German or just Dirk, but I want to tag our guy with another label for this column. The Ageless Wonder. Common and overused, I know, but fits the 35-year-old perfectly. Nowitzki has now been named to his 12th All Star team in his illustrious 16-year career.

Tender knees and older age refuse to slow this man down. Through 45 games played, he is 9th in the league in Player Efficiency Rating (23.69) and 12th in the NBA in scoring (21.6 points per game). The best international player of all time has proven last year’s injury-plagued season was indeed an anomaly. The Big German is back.

To celebrate a fantastic first half of the season for the great Dirk Nowitzki, let’s take a look at his his top 5 performances so far:
