It has been a busy week in Valley Ranch for the Dallas Cowboys. The NFL just released the compensatory picks for this year’s draft, and the Cowboys were able to add three seventh-round picks. After the signing of Henry Melton, many believe that Dallas will now draft a defensive end in the first round. Using Fanspeak.com‘s mock draft simulator, I was able to draft for the Cowboys. Without futher ado, let’s get started.

I could honestly live with this mock. I’ve been wondering about easley a couple months now. The injuries scare me I can’t lie. But anytime he was healthy he just dominated againt some of the best o-line competition. (SEC) Nice job!

Thanks, Alex. Stay tuned for more draft coverage!

  • Albert Smith

    Me likes!

      Thanks, Albert!

The Cowboys will get an “A” in this years draft with this mock. I would get K. Martin sooner.

    • Ryan Ratty

Thanks for the comment, Tony. I really like Kareem Martin. He could be gone by the end of the second round if a team falls in love with him.

No way Dozier is there in 5th or Schofield in 7th, however I would like both pickups….I would want Archer too, but only if we could get in 7th…Would be happy with this draft, happier if we could get Brad Smith QB Wyoming somewhere, maybe trade back in 1st, still get Ealy and an extra 4th….

    • Ryan Ratty

This was just off the mock draft simulator. It is unlikely Dozier, Schofield, and Archer will be there in their respective rounds, but it still is worth fun. I like Brett Smith from Wyoming too.

Can prolly trade back in mid 20′s and still get Easly, or Dee Ford….

    • Ryan Ratty

Thanks for the comment, Brian. I wouldn’t be upset with that!

So let me get this straight. You have the Cowboys reaching for a DE who is considered a high potential guy. You then have them go DT where they have already signed two DT’s in FA and have Bass and probably Crawford sliding inside as well sometimes. And my personal favorite is you address arguably the teams now biggest need of FS in the 7th round. I guess you have missed all of the mid to late round busts the Cowboys have drafted over the years at Safety. No offense but I dont think your mock helps Dallas that much..I would rather see them get a legit safety in Pryor or Dix in the 1st round and then go with Crichton, Murphy or Reilly in the 2nd. I would not be surprised to see a Kony or Ford fall into the 2nd round as well.

    • Ryan Ratty

Thanks for the comment, David. I’m also a big fan of Crichton. Murphy is too undersized and Reilly is a high potential type of guy that you said you don’t like. Ealy could go before Dallas, and Ford has turned a ton of heads. I’ll tell you something right now… the Cowboys like J.J. Wilcox. A safety could be drafted by Dallas in May, but it will not be in the first round. Another thing… Crichton may not be there in the second round. Drafting Ealy at 16 wouldn’t be a reach. Bass hasn’t done anything yet, and Crawford will probably play defensive end now that the Dallas needs a starter opposite of Selvie.

      • David

Yes you are correct Reilly like Kony is a high potential guy which is why I wouldnt want him in the 1st round either. Also any D-lineman they draft is going to end up being a rotational player unless he is the second coming of Peppers. But maybe you missed that memo from Marinelli. He has said he wants a rotation of 8 to 9 guys so they are always fresh. So why would you draft a part time player at 16 when there is huge holes at FS and LB. And yeah Bass has not done much yet but as a rotational player I can live with the improvement Marinelli should get out of him. The same cannot be said for the FS spot. Do you really think this defense can be even middle of the road with the horrible Safeties on this roster? Tell me when the last time was this team had a legit pro bowl safety? And you say the Cowboys love Wilcox, a safety who played safety for ten minutes. He is also better suited to play where Church plays and not the single high. He was constantly out of position to the point where he got benched for an arguably worse safety. And lastly you say they may draft a safety but not in the 1st round. So after Pryor and Dix there is a pretty good drop off to the next tier. So is Dallas going to draft another mid round small school safety, because that has worked so well for them over the past decade plus..

        • Ryan Ratty

I like Pryor and Clinton-Dix, but Wilcox was a third-round pick last year. Wilcox was great for the first month and a half of the season last year. After his concussion, his play tailed off. Give him a chance to play. Dallas also has Matt Johnson. Garrett has high hopes for Johnson if he can stay healthy.

          • David

Great???? Wilcox was never great in any game last year. I watched every single game. I mean the Cowboys safeties have been an embarrassment for years and you want to have them cover the back end of the defense as the single high safety. They were all constantly out of position last year. Wilocx has been a safety for 10 minutes and Johnson has never even see the field. How can you really want to go into the season with this safety group. Tell me the last safety the Cowboys have drafted or even got as an UDFA that was from a legit program..And when was the last time they drafted a safety in at least the 2nd round.
