The Dallas Cowboys bypassed Johnny Manziel to select offensive guard/tackle Zack Martin. That draft picks tells me about two things about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. First, it tells me that the Cowboys have full faith in Tono Romo. Second, it tells me that Jerry was steered into making this selection. Jerry loved Manziel and he believed the former Aggie was going to be a special player. By drafting an offensive player in round one, it will be up to the management to draft a ton of defensive players on Day 2. Here are the five prospects who will be great fits with the Cowboys if they fall to the 47th overall pick.

I like your guys listed above. I don’t think Jones has the balls to draft a WR in 2nd. Cowboys were in the same situation last year. Defense was our biggest need, we took O-Line in 1st then TE in 2nd. I don’t think Dallas goes down that road again. I love Crichton if we loose out on Lawrance.

People need to get away from Jernigan and Hageman. The interior D-line as of right now is not their biggest need. Especially at the 1 tech where Jernigan is projected to play. Dallas needs to go DE in the 2nd round with either Ealy, Cricthon, Lawrence or Tuitt. In the 3rd they need to address their OLB position and their should be some guys like Smith, Reily or maybe Kirksey available. They can go DT in the 7th round and their still should be some quality guys left.

I’d be pretty content with Murphy as well. Excellent hands, decent quickness, and a great frame to build on. 31.5 sacks in 3 years is testament that this dude can harass QBs on a constant basis.

I don’t see them going WR in the second barring an unprecedented run of d lineman going. I’m in agreement on Crighton, and have been targeting him at our second round pick for about a month with the likelihood of Barr being gone by 16. While I think another d tackle is needed given the way Kiffinelli likes to rotate players, but a pass rusher is a more immediate need. Look for a guy like Will Sutton or Cauron Reid in the third or fourth round to add another tackle. I also like Kareem Martin a lot, 47 might be too high for him, but I wouldn’t hesitate to grab him in the third if he’s still there, even if we get Crighton, Lawrence, or Murphy (Not sure why everyone seems so down on him, all he did was produce) in the second. You can never have too many guys to get after the QB now days, and good pressure up front would go a long way to “fixing” our secondary problems, too. We have our new great wall well on the way, time to start working on a new doomsday (Probably dating myself with that reference, lol).
