The Modern "Great Wall Of Dallas" Brings Hope

With the selection of Zach Martin in the first round of the Draft, the Cowboys have solidified a unit that was in flux just a couple of Seasons ago. Jerry has now done the unbelievable, he has drafted 3 Offensive Linemen in the first round and he has done it in 3 of the past four Seasons. Remarkable. If everyone stays healthy, this will be one of the best young units in the entire League. Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and now Zach Martin will be the main cog in this Offense for years to come. The future looks bright, even for Tony Romo‘s eventual successor.

I have a strong feeling that this Offense will be predicated on DeMarco Murray and the running game. I believe if he can stay healthy, Murray will be a top 5 back this season. Along with the rejuvenated run game will be the return of the deep ball. With Scott Linehan on board, I think this team is going to be explosive again. They certainly have the man-power to do so and with this line giving Romo time, they have nowhere to go but LONG!! Anybody who is able to see and to think for themselves has to love the direction this team has taken in recent years. They have re-built while staying competitive.

The Defense is a bit of another story, but drafting DeMarcus Lawrence was huge. They also drafted some depth and this is going to be the most competitive Training Camp on that side of the ball that you have seen in a long time. Trust me on that. There will be stiff competition at both Outside Linebacker spots as well as Safety. It is going to be fun to watch and the winner will have no doubt earned his spot. The Cowboys will be much better prepared for the injury bug this time around.

Offseason Tells Me Garrett Will Be Here For The Long-Haul

I truly believe that if the Cowboys remain competitive but still miss the Playoffs, that Jason Garrett will sign an extension. This team is at a crucial juncture and with the lack of depth this squad has had under Garrett, I don’t think there is a coach in the world that would have gotten to 8-8 three straight years.

Under Garrett’s watch, this team has gone from old and over-priced, to young and exciting. They have almost completely flipped this roster in his tenure. Moves like Drafting Martin, releasing Ware and letting Hatcher go tell me that Garrett has some room for error. If he were all that desperate he would have begged to keep those guys around, however, the that would not have been cap friendly. Get it? He plans on being here for the good years, and Jerry plans on having him.
