With the devastating injury to Sean Lee, a glaring hole opens up at the MIKE linebacker position for the Dallas Cowboys. As Cowboy fans have seen in the past few years, injuries seem to be always slowing this Cowboys team down. When you take a look at Lee, the first thing that jumps out with him is ability to make an impact in the game against the run and against the pass. Adam Schefter tweeted that Lee leads the NFL in interceptions for a linebacker since his rookie season in 2010. Also in that time period, Lee has averaged 9.2 tackles per game. When Lee is on the field, this defense is at least two times better. Like Tony Romo on the offensive end, Lee is the defensive captain for this team and his presence will most definitely be missed. With all of that being said, the Cowboys could go with a variety of players to play the important middle linebacker position. Here are three players who could be plug-and-play players for the Cowboys.
