Outside of the obvious of resigning Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith. There are other players for the Cowboys that warrant a new contract extension.

DeMarco Murray

Extending a new contract to DeMarco Murray will be a tricky decision for the Cowboys. While Murray is coming off a Pro Bowl season, he has dealt with injuries every year since coming into the league. Then again the Cowboys haven’t had a complete back such as Murray since Emmitt Smith. Organizations no longer value running backs as much they used to, so resigning Murray on a cap friendly deal shouldn’t be difficult. Aside from Murray’s injury history, he has proven to be a key contributor to the Cowboys offense. He also brings much needed leadership to the Cowboys lockeroom. Although resigning Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith are the Cowboys top priority, Murray should be next in line.
