The preseason begins tonight for Dallas Cowboys fans as the Cowboys travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers. As everyone knows by now, the Dallas Cowboys will be without starting QB Tony Romo as he continues to heal from offseason back surgery. While everyone excepts Romo to be fine by the start of the regular season (and even play in the next preseason game), there are some concerns as to whether Romo can throw the deep ball or not. For a Dallas offense that loves to stretch the field, that could be a problem heading into the season.
Look for the Dallas offense to call a very vanilla game with Brandon Weeden under center. The O-line has been beating up the defense throughout training camp and are eager to find out if they are that good or their defense is that bad. Look for a run-heavy game in the first half and passing to increase as the game progresses.
The defense will be the real question mark tonight. The worst defense in 2013 will take the field with something to prove both individually, and as a unit. Virtually every position in the front 7 is up for grabs and the team is desperate for playmakers. It will be interesting to see how the LBs cover their zones, how the depleted secondary will stand up all game, how the safeties play the back half of the field, and how the D-Line rotation holds up in all capacities.
So many question marks, so little time.
