Forget About The Defense Or The Run Game, This Year Is On Romo

At best, this defense will be able to create some timely turnovers this year. It would be refreshing to see DeMarco Murray carry it 17 times a game with a hand-full going to Lance Dunbar. That is all well and good but it doesn’t mean a lick if Tony Romo does not have a career year.

All I have heard all off-season is how the Cowboys are going to rely on Murray and the run-game, although I believe that they will be much more dedicated, rely is not the word that I would use. If they do indeed use the run as they need to, it will only open up more for the passing game.

Remember that this team could be behind early and often, they are not going to be able to run themselves back in to games. These sure comebacks that they will need, will come from Tony Romos right arm.

The best way to help this suspect-defense out is to keep them off of the field. Effectively running the ball is surely the best way to do that but the Cowboys are probably going to need a lot of points to win some of these games. Long, time-consuming drives are hard to pull off. I actually think that their goal is to attack. Establish the run and then BAM, go for the long ball. They will have to take their chances with the defense, but they have to score touchdowns consistently.

DeMarco Murray is a really good Running Back and this team needs him. This defense has some question marks, although, I think that the will be better than most think they will be. All of that being said, the Cowboys could run for 2000 yards and cause a lot of turnovers on defense, none of it will matter if Tony Romo doesn’t play exceptional ball when he has to.

A quick word of advice to one Tony Romo, loosen up that right arm. For the Dallas Cowboys, this season is resting on it.
