The Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1995, however, they are  now the world’s most valuable sports franchise.

Owner and General manager, Jerry Jones, is smiling a like fat cat right now. The former Arkansas oilman struck it rich in oil and now is even richer as a football man.

In fact, he’s a billionaire four time over according to the most recent appraisals. That’s an awesome feat considering Jones bought the Cowboys for $140 million back in 1989!

Mr. Jones has more than quadrupled the return of his investment in one of the most storied franchise in all of sports. Sorry, New York Yankees, but America’s favorite past time is football, and its most beloved (and hated) team is the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys are the world’s  most valuable sports franchise, even beating out premier soccer club teams like Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Soccer is a more popular sport worldwide than American football, so for the Cowboys to be worth more than Europe’s most popular club teams speaks volumes.

It even speaks to the Cowboys’ identity and popularity in American sports. The Cowboys were by far the most watched football team with the highest ratings in 2015.

That’s a good thing for the Cowboys and Jones, but that’s not even the most interesting part.

The Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1995, they have only two playoff victories, and have yet to play in an NFC Championship game since 1995. Not to mention, the Cowboys have a record of 174 regular season wins against 162 losses since they last won the Lombardi Trophy.

Over the last two decades, the Cowboys have been the definition of average.

Trust me, Cowboys’ fans everywhere are reminded on a daily basis (by all of the HATERS) that it has been a very long time since we won a Super Bowl. What makes the Cowboys so hated is that even though they haven’t been to the Super Bowl since the Clinton Administration, they are still the most popular.

How can that be? How can this team, with so much drama over the years, be worth billions?

The Cowboys are the most valued franchise in the NFL because Jerry Jones is the best salesman in sports history. He’s is a marketing genius and hype-machine personified.

The egotistical Jones has kept the Cowboys relevant with good news, bad news, and just old fashioned promotion.

Jones can sell water to a whale, ice to an eskimo, and lemonade to the Devil. The man is that good.

Simply put, Jones sold the Cowboys’ brand and image to the sports world to keep it popular. It helped that football became the number one sport in the country, but Jones spiced it up with shrewd business deals, corporate sponsors, and building a billion dollar stadium.

All of this added value to the Cowboys franchise. In reality, being the most valued football team in the NFL is nothing to the Cowboys.

According to Forbes, the Cowboys are the NFL’s most valuable team for the ninth straight year because they generated a league record with revenue of $620 million.

The Cowboys had $125 million more than any other team in the NFL.

That is a lot more money than your competition. No wonder the NFL had to implement a salary cap because old man Jerral (real name) would flat out buy Super Bowl victories with that type of money.

Further, the Cowboys make $90 million annually from AT&T Stadium’s 350 luxury suites and more than $100 million sponsors. That is a whopping $190 million for people watching the Cowboys play football and for businesses advertising their product, hence the name of the Stadium.

In addition, the Cowboys will open up their brand new world headquarters in Frisco, TX in August, worth $1.5 billion. Mr. Jones definitely sets the bar high!

The reality is the Cowboys are the team you love to hate. People either are die-hard, passionate Cowboys’ fans or flat out despise them.

Opposing fans watch games rooting to see Dallas lose, adding to the high television ratings for the Cowboys. Combine the high ratings with the aforementioned revenue, and the Cowboys are easily worth billions.

The Cowboys are the best reality television show in sports because Jones has mastered the art of making the Cowboys the best bad guy in all of sports.

Jones has taken what former visionary and general manager Tex Schramm created and made it the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

Now all Jerry Jones needs to do is deliver another Super Bowl to America’s Team.

And continue to count his billions.
