CB Walter Thurmond

Every so often, injuries derail a player’s career and one player whose experienced that is Walter Thurmond. In 2013, Thurmond was the unsung hero of the Seattle Seahawks’ secondary. He didn’t get the attention that Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, or Earl Thomas received, but he was still one of the better No. 2 cornerbacks in the league. He signed with the New York Giants for the 2014 season, but he a torn pectoral he suffered in Week 2 would keep him out for the bulk of the season.

Despite that injury, Thurmond is a player that no one is really talking about. Thanks to his injury, Thurmond’s asking price isn’t that high, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t one of the better talents from the cornerback position this year. When the 2015 seas rolls around, Thurmond will be 28 years old and in the prime of his career. If Brandon Carr does not accept his pay cut, then he will likely be designated as a June 1st cut. There are also concerns over Morris Claiborne and his knee, so if the Cowboys want to address their cornerback problem this offseason, adding a player like Thurmond would be a smart, as he wouldn’t cost that much money.
