Johnny Manziel of the Cleveland Browns may have finally eliminated himself from the possibility of playing quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

Well, well. Johnny Manziel it at it once again.

Does anybody get around like this guy?

Just in recent memory, there was an alleged altercation between Johnny Manziel and a girlfriend, ex or not I don’t know, in Avon, Ohio, a western suburb of Cleveland. This was in October.

Not long after, Johnny Manziel was busted on video while partying in Austin, Texas during a bye week for the Cleveland Browns in November – he had been warned of this type of behavior repeatedly by the Browns.

In December, Manziel was discovered in Las Vegas gambling and partying while incognito. That plan didn’t work as expected, obviously.

Still in the month of January, albeit by a hair, Manziel is now being investigated by police in Ft. Worth, Texas following another alleged domestic violence incident. This time, a police helicopter was necessary to get a beat on the former Heisman Trophy winner.

I feel like starting a new website called JohnnyManzielMonthly.com, but I think that the material necessary to keep it going will be short-lived. In other words, I’m of the belief that Manziel will be completely out of the spotlight in favor of a set of soon-to-be forgotten punchlines sooner than later.

The undisputed fact right now is that trouble follows Johnny Manziel across state lines – and it will do so with the next franchise that might give him an opportunity.

You’re undoubtedly aware of the fact that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been enamored with the former Texas A&M star ever since the 2014 NFL Draft. Perhaps never before has the genius of Jones’ son, executive vice president Stephen, been so profoundly illustrated.

It’s really tough to figure out why there’s any interest left in Johnny Manziel, a question that begged well before he was spotted repeatedly in Vegas wearing a blond wig.

Clear is the fact that Manziel doesn’t belong in the NFL. His brief career in Cleveland – the Browns are widely believed to be done with him – was quite rocky and it’s not like he’s a bona fide Pro Bowl talent that just needs some counseling. Manziel’s excessive drinking alone is reason enough to scratch him off the list of future quarterbacks to either back up or take over for current starter Tony Romo someday.

Having said that, repeated domestic abuse allegations are a whole new set of alarm bells, the type of which the Cowboys have heard plenty of over the last year following the signing of defensive end Greg Hardy.

Regardless of where you sit on the Hardy issue, it’s pretty much a no-brainer that Johnny Manziel cannot be signed by the Cowboys.

We’re talking about a player with serious issues that’s a marginal NFL talent to start with. While he was quite dazzling at the college level with the Aggies, his inability to conduct business at the professional level goes all the way back to his being asked to leave the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, Louisiana back in July of 2013. This incident took place as Johnny Manziel still had one more year to go at College Station and just a few months after he had become a household name.

Johnny Manziel now has two years of NFL experience, if we can call it that, under his belt and things certainly don’t appear to be getting any better. Simply put, things are getting worse, literally by the month.

Speculation has been rampant for several weeks that Manziel could find his way to the Dallas Cowboys pending his all but certain release from the Browns. In addition to Johnny Football, Robert Griffin III, likely on his way out with the Washington Redskins, is believed to be another candidate to fight for a back up job in Dallas behind Romo, who’s about to undergo another surgery to strengthen that collar bone that keeps breaking.

At this point, RGIII looks like the most likely to get this opportunity – if it’s even this particular Heisman Trophy winner who ends up wearing the blue star in an attempt to resurrect his once bright-looking career.

Where Johnny Manziel is concerned, the Dallas Cowboys will have to simply pass.
