After the Dallas Cowboys splashy addition of receiver George Pickens, one of the more interesting offseason stories is how the depth chart will fill out at the position.

It is obvious that Pickens and CeeDee Lamb will do the heavy lifting, but what is less clear is how the Cowboys are going to fill out the bottom of the depth chart. With so much talent at the skill positions, it is going to be an uphill battle to claim the final roster spots.

Keeping this in mind, it is clear that Parris Campbell could be on his way out due to recent additions.

While Campbell only has a $1.1 million cap hit, the receiver is likely to be cut only due to the younger options on the roster. The contract is not guaranteed, only furthering the reason the Cowboys could consider moving on. Dallas has a great trio of starting options as well as a solid option at tight-end and new depth in the backfield. With how few touches the final receivers in the rotation will get, it makes sense to keep younger, less proven pieces.

Cowboys Will Consider Cutting Parris Campbell

This rules out Campbell with the receiver bouncing around the league and failing to provide any consistent level of production. With how easy it is to find receivers in the draft and free agency, it would be wise to go with the cheaper and less proven options on the roster. At least the Cowboys have a chance to find higher upside.

Looking at the rest of the Dallas roster, it is hard to find many interesting position battles with established veterans or stars at nearly every position. It is ideal for an aging core that is attempting to chase down both the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles. Cowboys fans will have to be content watching battles at the bottom of the depth chart.

This includes Campbell, who is increasingly looking to be a possible roster cut ahead of the season. A move that will have a bit more clarity as training camp begins and the Cowboys get a first look at alternative options.
