Round 5, Pick 146: David Fales, Quarterback, San Jose State
At the combine, the Cowboys met with two quarterbacks in Jimmy Garoppolo and David Fales. To me, both are very similar. Garoppolo is definitely more polished, but Fales has an uncanny ability to just make plays. Fales also played in a pro-style offense at San Jose State. His arm isn’t that strong, but he is simply a playmaker. He might have gone against some bad competition, but so did Tony Romo in college. Fales is also one of the most toughest guys I have ever watched in college. He has nice size at 6’3″, 220 pounds. He was one of the most accurate quarterbacks in college football as he had a completion percentage of 72.1. I truly believe Dallas needs to draft a quarterback in this year’s draft. Romo’s constant back problems scare me, and he will be 33 when the new NFL season rolls around.
