4th Round: A.J. McCarron, Quarterback, Alabama

I may just be a sucker for his girlfriend, but I do believe the Cowboys need a quarterback. Romo will be 33 when the 2014 NFL season rolls around, and there is no telling if his back will ever heal entirely. McCarron is one of the smartest quarterbacks I have ever seen. He rarely makes bad throws, and he barely throw any interceptions during his starting career at Alabama. Many will ridicule McCarron’s success because of the defense that supported him, but I believe that he had a big reason with Alabama’s back-to-back national championships. McCarron has compared himself to Tom Brady, and I actually can see the comparison. Both are intelligent, and both have strong arms. If you surround the right weapons around McCarron, he will find success. Alabama quarterbacks haven’t panned out in recent years, but McCarron brings an arsenal that I love. It is hard to say he isn’t NFL-ready when he won over 35 games in three seasons as the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide.
