5th Round: Cody Hoffman, Wide Receiver, BYU
To me, there is not a receiver that’s getting less attention that Cody Hoffman. That could very well be due to the fact that he had a bad senior season, but he has a skillset that is NFL-ready. At 6’4″, 215 pounds, Hoffman is a big and physical target who could become an explosive playmaker in the NFL. He doesn’t have game-breaking speed, but he has great hands and a towering body to catch passes even if he is double-covered. The average cornerback height in the NFL is 6’0″, so it is easy to see how Hoffman could make an impact immediately in the NFL as a redzone target. Nonetheless, Dallas needs a receiver to complement Dez Bryant. I like Terrance Williams, but I do believe he is a better fit in the slot. If Dez goes down, I’m not all that comfortable with a receiving group consisting of Williams, Cole Beasley, and Dwayne Harris. Hoffman would provide another weapon in this offense for No. 9.
