4th Round
DT Will Sutton
Arizona State
6’1” 303 lbs
Will Sutton is someone I had ranked in the 3rd round. Many teams are split on Will. He appears to have vast potential but never seems to realize it. My gamble is if potential is there, Rod Marinelli can get him to realize it.
Sutton is an ideal 3-technique DT. He’s stoutly built but explosive through the gaps. He’s a smart player who recognizes plays almost before they develop. He’s strong and versatile and has played just about every position on the DL. He’s a player who always finds a way into the backfield.
Sutton comes with risk too. He’s undersized which could impact his ability to play every snap. He also was academically ineligible in 2011 because of poor grades. He seems like a smart man so the grades can most likely be blamed on laziness rather than ability. By this point everyone has some warts and his potential and ability far outweigh his negatives. I did not hesitate to select Sutton in the 4th Round.
In Round 5 the Cowboys select a true sleeper free safety…
