4th Round
QB JIMMY GAROPPOLO
EASTERN ILLINOIS
6’2” 226 lbs
With a late 2nd round grade I was thrilled to see Garoppolo fall to the Cowboys in the 4th. Walter Football (who did the rankings in this simulation) even has him with a 2nd-3rd round grade, but teams needs seemed to outweigh his value in this simulation.
I had absolutely no intention of picking a QB in the top 4 rounds and was prepared to target Connor Shaw again in the 7th round. But alas, Garoppolo was too good to pass up here and will be a great investment for the Cowboys.
Garoppolo comes from a pass-heavy offense that broke all of Tony Romo’s records. He has a moderate arm with excellent accuracy. He has pocket presence and quick feet. He’s not a running threat but will be able to survive in a collapsing pocket. He has a quick release and good decision-making skills.
Offensive Line bargain in round 5…
