Fourth Round:
E.J Gaines, CB, Missouri – I was not happy with who was on the board at this time, I wanted to go safety, OLB, or G here, but there was nothing that wasn’t a huge reach. Gaines however is an interesting prospect at the CB position. He is a 4.5 speed guy, but plays faster and moves laterally better than most guys. He is always around the ball and plays it well in the air most of the time. He can anticipate a route and knows when and when not to jump it. At 5’10” 190 lbs he has a pretty good build for CB and would add much needed depth. His biggest flaw is he is the classic CB tackler. He will wrap up and drag down and is a little afraid to get his helmet in there on a RB. I think if he could fix this, he is a steal in the 4th round.
There was a huge run on G just before this pick and Savage had gone at the very end of the 3rd. Any safety at this point was a huge reach, so I went BPA at this point. CB works and that brings us to the next round.
