Fifth Round:

Kelcy Quarles, DT, South Carolina – This pick came down between Quarles and James Gayle from VT. I realize that most of Quarles big plays came because of the double teams on Clowney, but since the Cowboys took Barr in the first round this would benefit Quarles. At 6’4” 297 lbs you would think he could get pushed around a little, but this is just not so. Quarles can get pressure well, but his problem is hand placement and getting hands up in passing lanes. He will sometime overpursue and get out of position. These things can be taught and with Barr on the outside this Dallas D is looking much much better.

Again I was looking for a G or a S, but again there was nothing within reach. I think Quarles is worth a 4th round grade so when I saw him sitting there I scooped him up. Since there is no 6th rounder right now we move to the 7th.
