Round 7b: Tyler Starr, Inside/Outside Linebacker, South Dakota

Since Jason Garrett has taken over as head coach, one of Dallas’ draft theories is called RKG, also known as “right kinda guy.” That is the player Tyler Starr is. Two years ago, the Cowboys drafted Caleb McSurdy, a small-school linebacker who ended up never playing a snap for the Cowboys in a regular season game. I remember I was livid after that pick because Vontaze Burfict was still on the board. Burfict was a first-round talent, but he had multiple arrests and drug violations in his name. I’m a fan of taking risks in the later rounds. Starr wouldn’t be my pick here, but he is the Garrett type of pick. I said earlier how this is the most likely mock draft, not the mock draft I would choose.
