Alexey Solovyev is a 6’2”, 200 pound defenseman from Moscow Russia and is in his third season with the Brahmas program. He joined the Texas Tornado midway through the 2012/13 season and scored his first NAHL point in his second game with a second period assist. On December 14, he scored an unassisted goal against the Odessa Jackalopes for his first NAHL goal which turned out to be the game winner. Alexey finished his first season with 9 points in 39 regular season games. He followed that up with 1G – 4A and a +3 in six playoff games.
Last season Solovyev played in 52 games for the Brahmas scoring 6G – 14A with 8 points coming on the power play. He had a four game point streak in late October and a three game point streak in early January to go along with three multi point games.
This season in 32 games played, Alexey has already surpassed his scoring from all 2013/14 with 24 points on 6G – 18A and is a +15. His 24 points has him 10th in the NAHL in defenseman scoring. He has nine points on the power play with his cannon from the blueline and two shorthanded tallies. Solovyev had a six game point streak earlier this season and six multi point games.
