Dallas Cowboys’ Issues Will Work Themselves Out

Last week, I wrote an article about how the Dallas Cowboys shouldn’t test Dez Byrant’s loyalty and should sign him to a long term contract. About how the Cowboys are playing with fire and can be burned big time by tagging Bryant. Well, the Cowboys have another problem on the horizon. And we are about to find out what the Cowboys are made of.
“The Right Kind of Guy” mantra will be tested.
The Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain reportedly failed a third drug test, according to ESPN. A fourth failed test is a four game suspension. And this bad news comes after Joseph Randle‘s incident in Wichita, Kansas, although the marijuana charges were dropped. But the Police are investigating Randle for domestic abuse charges.
And this was Randle’s second run in with the law.
Talk about stupidity.
Two of the Cowboys best players have put their NFL careers in jeopardy. And they have put the Cowboys in a bind. But more importantly, they have put the Cowboys in a position where they have to make some major decisions. Decisions that the Cowboys had to make anyway. Now, these decisions might not be so hard after all.
But with these two latest incidents, the Cowboys are playing with all of the leverage. No worries for the Cowboys, however.
Because problems like these work themselves out. For better or for worse. Just like a marriage.
Here is why.

When it comes to McClain, he is a FA looking for the big bucks. And the Cowboys were going to do everything in their power to keep him. Basically, letting the athletic Bruce Carter walk away. But with McClain’s latest failed drug test and likely suspension, the Cowboys can now impose their will on McClain in terms of money, especially guaranteed money. Or they can focus on Carter and resign him and let McClain go because McClain has shown he’s a liability, a player making poor decisions.
To make matters worse, McClain’s 1.5 million dollar house was burned down and authorities says its arson. That’s not good.
And the Cowboys will have a healthy Sean Lee (hopefully) back along with Justin Durant, Anthony Hitchens, and Kyle Wilber. So instead of paying McClain big bucks and competing with other teams, the Cowboys can now weigh their options carefully and decide if McClain is worth the trouble or pay him whatever. And remember, the Cowboys weren’t sure if they could resign both McClain and Carter.
The money wouldn’t allow it.
McClain has made that decision a lot easier. And something tells me Carter will be back next year.
But I don’t know if Randle will be back next year or should be back. As I stated before, he’s under investigation for domestic violence charges against his child’s mother. And we know about Randle’s stealing underwear and cologne from a suburban mall outside of Dallas. Randle’s juvenile attitude has made retaining DeMarco Murray a top priority. If Randle is found guilty of domestic violence charges, he will definitely miss several games and the Cowboys can’t go into next season without a featured RB.
Of course, they can find one in the draft. Or they can resign Murray. Or do both. Either way, this RB situation will work itself out because of Randle’s foolishness.
The Cowboys have other issues to worry about like Bryant’s contract, the CB position, resigning WR’s Cole Beasley and Dwayne Harris. And those issues are easily resolved because Bryant isn’t going anywhere and the other players, hate to say it, are replaceable.
The Cowboys are experiencing the football version of the “The Bachelor”, where the bachelor finds his woman by a process of elimination. Well that’s what the Cowboys will do. Find their man by process of elimination.
Except in the Cowboys case, it’s by process of stupidity.
As long as that’s the case, these problems will work themselves out.
