Round 4: Samford FS Jaquiski Tartt
Jason Garrett’s mantra has built this team over the past few years. The foundation of the Cowboys is to draft players that are coachable and with good character. Right kinda guys, also known as RKGs, are players Garrett loves. Out of a small school in Samford, there is a player who has a ton of potential to do excellent things in the NFL. Jaquiski Tartt is a name that is really flying below the radar. At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Tartt is a bigger safety. He accelerates quickly when he reads the play and his ball skills aren’t too bad either.
Tartt has been compared to Kam Chancellor and while that comparison is a bit far-fetched, it should be said that there are a few things in common between the two. Like Chancellor, Tartt has tremendous size and he does a great job at making his presence felt in both the running and passing game. Tartt has long arms and he truly is an athletic freak. Considering J.J. Wilcox’s development is going slow, the Cowboys have to start thinking of bringing in a new safety. Even if Tartt doesn’t start in his first year, he will be a stud on special teams for the Cowboys. Tartt would be the perfect pick for the Cowboys in the middle rounds.
