Round 3: Grady Jarrett, Defensive Tackle, Clemson
The Cowboys added one of the bigger fishes in free agency in Greg Hardy. That being said, they have three impactful defensive ends in Hardy, 2014 second-round pick DeMarcus Lawrence, and Jeremy Mincey. In the middle, however, they’ll be relying on Tyrone Crawford, Terrell McClain, and Nick Hayden. Crawford provides a presence in the interior part of the defensive line, but McClain and Hayden are both subpar to say the least. Knowing that, the Cowboys should look into addressing this area in the middle rounds.
In terms of getting off the ball quickly and taking on double teams, Grady Jarrett excels at both. Jarrett isn’t a player that will make it to the Pro Bowl, but he’s a guy that can be a solid player for many years, a true foundational piece. Jarrett has the NFL in his bloodlines, as he is the nephew of future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis. By coming to Dallas, Jarrett will get to work with two terrific defensive coaches in Rod Marinelli and Leon Lett. Jarrett has the potential to do great things next to Crawford in the interior part of the defensive line.
Next: Round 4: Martrell Spaight, Outside Linebacker, Arkansas
