Round 4: Martrell Spaight, Outside Linebacker, Arkansas
Even though they lost Justin Durant and Bruce Carter, the Cowboys seem to have their three starting linebackers in place for 2015 in Sean Lee, Rolando McClain, and Anthony Hitchens. After re-signing McClain, the Cowboys will likely move Lee to the WILL linebacker position so he can stay away from most of the contact that the MIKE linebacker position would receive. McClain will be the guy who will play the MIKE linebacker position and Hitchens, who will be entering his second year, will play the SAM linebacker position.
Even though they seemingly have their guys, the Cowboys should still be in the market to draft a young linebacker and one guy that makes tense in the middle rounds is Martrell Spaight from Arkansas. He’s a little undersized, but he has good bend and he does a great job at using his hands. These traits will be of good use for the SAM linebacker position, but he also has good coverage skills, which tells me he could also play the WILL linebacker position. Spaight would be a solid addition and his versatility will be of great use.
