Reuniting the band?

C Tyson Chandler and C/PF Brandan Wright

There’s nothing wrong with upgrading, but when you’re already dancing with a pretty girl, how much can you gain and how much do you risk, by trying to upgrade? You may strike out with the upgrade and lose your original date in process. Perhaps my pretty girl metaphor is more confusing than helpful but the point is Tyson Chandler and Brandan Wright formed a pretty good duo at one time, and may again be the safest move for the Mavs.

As mentioned in the intro, Tyson Chandler was insulted when the Mavs let him go with nary a fuss last time around. He’s not going to have much patience for it again, if he sees the Mavs looking around for more attractive alternatives.

With former Dallas Maverick, Brandan Wright a free agent as well, the Mavs could easily add Wright to the mix and upgrade the depth behind Chandler and Nowitzki with one moderately-priced addition. Wright already knows the Mavs system, and at one time was executing it perfectly, as the Mavs established themselves as one of the top 5 teams in the NBA early last season.

It’s not splashy but it would do the trick.
