Starting Dallas Cowboys Left Guard
The Primary Competitors: La’el Collins and Ronald Leary
Early Favorite: Ronald Leary
La’el Collins was projected to be a mid-first round draft pick in the 2015 Draft but he dropped off draft boards after his former girlfriend was murdered. The Cowboys were able to swoop in and sign Collins as an undrafted free agent and Cowboys Nation couldn’t be happier.
With 3 first round picks already on the roster, many are penciling Collins in at LG. But the incumbent starter, Ronald Leary, isn’t going quietly as he brings his own set of veteran skills to a very young offensive line. It’s nearly impossible to project how the battle will go since the pads have yet to come on and Collins has yet to be seen play any real professional football.
The first week will show a lot as to what Collins has to offer. The job is Ronald Leary’s to lose and the Cowboys may prefer to develop Collins more slowly and see if he can replace Doug Free at RT in the near future.
