2. Tackle? We Don’t Need To Stinkin’ Tackle

I know the Cowboys are taught to strip the ball every chance they get. The problem is instead of tackling and stripping while bringing the runner to the ground, they try to strip before they get their arms around someone.

The tackling in the secondary is just terrible. The front seven isn’t the problem, at least in this case.

The secondary had chances to stop plays, but simply didn’t. This can be fixed, but defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has to get the secondary to refocus and prioritize tackling before stripping. If the secondary can’t catch an interception then they must at least stop forward progress.

The Cowboys must get better on defense if they are going to stay in contention in the NFC East. The defense will have to help win games no matter who the quarterback is. Cornerback/safety Byron Jones did a good job on tight end Rob Gronkowski, but he got little help.
