Moving forward, head coach Jason Garrett has said Cassel should get the start after the bye week. If he can pull the team together and rally around Cassel until Romo returns the Cowboys could be right in the mix for the playoffs when Romo does return.
For all of Garrett’s flaws that have been pointed out in terms of clock management, certain adjustments mid-game, and baffling play calling at times, one thing Garrett does well is support his players and try to get the best out of them. He has been smart enough to test Cassel every chance he has had to prepare him to start. Time will tell if Cassel is ready and has a grasp of the offense.
So, here we are heading into the bye-week.
It is time for the Cowboys to make changes and moving forward they must find ways to win a few games. Hearing that Cassel could be starting bring some hope to Cowboys fans that are just lost at the moment. While we have to wait two weeks to see if the move pays off, an extra week to prepare can only be a good thing.
