Dallas Cowboys: Mock Draft v1.0 Pet Cats Galore
Round One – Takkarist McKinley – DE – UCLA
It is no secret the Dallas Cowboys need to upgrade their pass rush. In the first round with Takkarist McKinley and Taco Charlton available, I went with McKinley due to the speed difference. McKinley has a ton of moves and speed to come off the ball.
He has amazing speed for his size and hasn’t reached his full potential as a pass rusher yet. He has all of the tools a coach could want and has the speed and size to match up with tight ends if he has to.
The knock on McKinley is he isn’t the ideal size to play defensive end, but his strength offsets that a little. He is a little raw as he didn’t join UCLA until mid-season of 2014. He will need to show in the Senior Bowl he is what everyone thinks he is currently. If he can show up during the Senior Bowl, McKinley could be a top-flight pass rusher in the draft.
McKinley ran the 100 meters in 10.58 so his speed is not even a question. He has more moves than Charlton and is a better pass rusher. He will need to add a little size to stand up against the run, but as a pure pass rusher, McKinley would be an immediate impact player.
