Round Two – Jourdan Lewis – CB – Michigan

With Brandon Carr looking like he will retire and Morris Claiborne a free agent, the Cowboys could use another cornerback, and quickly. Jourdan Lewis should be available in the second round and could play from day one.

He plays a really tight man coverage style and rarely lets any wide receiver get much of a window. Lewis has a knack for the ball and is able to track it quickly. He is not only an upgrade, but could be a steal of the draft even for a second round pick.

Lewis has speed, skill, technique, and agility to be a starting cornerback in the NFL from day one. He can play man against receivers and is deceptively strong for his size at the line. He tracks the ball better than any other corner in the draft and seems to want the ball as much, if not more, than the receivers he goes up against.

The lack of size could hurt Lewis right off the bat, as he has been known to get a little grabby at times and almost disappears in the run game as he gets pushed around. He has the desire and willingness to tackle, but his size does hurt him right now.

If he can add a little size and keep his ball skills and technique in the process, he could be a lock down corner in a year or two. He will need some help in zone coverage, but is an upgrade to the Cowboys secondary as it stands.
