Dallas Cowboys: Mock Draft v1.0 Pet Cats Galore
Round Five – Adam Shaheen – Tight End – Ashland
If you haven’t heard of Shaheen, you are not alone. Ashland isn’t known for a ton of draft picks and isn’t on television often. However, that isn’t to say Shaheen should be overlooked. In fact given his size, it is really hard to overlook Shaheen. Standing at 6’7” 277 pounds he looks like a lineman, but do not let that fool you. Shaheen is all tight end and a pretty good one at that.
Shaheen had 57 catches for 867 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Ashland Eagles. He has power, speed, size, and soft hands which makes him a scary match-up for any defensive player.
He should run about a 4.55-4.6 forty time and has the size to be a very good blocker. If you want a comparison, think a bigger Martellus Bennett with better hands. He will be a nightmare for defenses if used right and he works hard as well.
Where Shaheen will need the most work is route running. He isn’t the best route runner, but his size makes up for a lot of the errors in his game. He will need to show he can play against top talent, but has all of the tools necessary if he puts the work in. He can be a little sloppy in run blocking, but it is very fixable and should take advice well and learn quickly. He has the drive and skill, he just needs to be refined.
