Dallas Cowboys: Mock Draft v1.0 Pet Cats Galore
Round Seven – Caleb Peterson – Guard – UNC
Caleb Peterson has all the makings of a starting guard in the NFL. He was one of the best linemen in the country during his time at UNC. He has power, speed, and technique that every NFL team is looking for.
At guard he is adept at both run blocking and pass blocking. Peterson can be one of the best guards in all of football. So why is he in the seventh round? Because Peterson had to have back surgery late in the 2016 season.
Peterson really could be one of the best guards in all of football. He has the ability to block in both the run game and pass game with skill and technique that would have made him a starter from day one. He uses his hands really well and keeps a good pad level. Peterson should have been a first or second round pick.
Sadly, it is unknown how Peterson will recover from his back surgery. But as shown in the past few drafts, the Cowboys are willing to take a chance on a top flight player regardless of injury. He could be a long way from playing or he could be ready to go earlier than many think. The unknown is what will make a lot of team pass on Peterson, but Jerry loves to take risks, and in the seventh round Peterson could be a steal.
