Round 7 – Isaac Asiata, G, Utah

Asiata is a raw player, however, can one day start in the NFL with some work. He has an insane punch off the line and is surprisingly quick reacting to twists and stunts. He is rather strong in pass protection, and if you watch the tape against Washington, he looked really good.

Right off the bat he should be a solid swing guard and could work his way as a starter. His strength is his most defining trait, and you almost never see him completely overpowered by anyone. Coaches have said he has one of the best work ethics they have ever seen and is always looking to get better.

Where Asiata will have to improve is his run blocking. He tends to release too quickly from his blocks and will sometimes whiff once in the second level. He tends to rely on his hands and initial punch too much and will lose balance due to his aggression.

He will need to work on fixing some of these things if he wants to be a starter in the league. He should be able to overcome much of his flaws due to his work ethic.

Asiata could be a rather serviceable swing guard and can play center if asked. He will work to find a position on the team and should be valuable and is the right type of guy that Jason Garrett loves.
