Tarik Cohen, RB, NC A&T – Projected Round(s) – 6-UDFA

I hadn’t seen much of Tarik Cohen to be honest. NC A&T isn’t exactly a powerhouse in the NCAA, so watching him wasn’t something most did on a regular basis. I love watching NCAA Bowl games and caught some of the 2015 Celebration Bowl.

This was my first look at Cohen, and it was good enough to make me scour through his film from the whole season.

At 5’6″ 180lbs, Cohen is a small guy. That’s one reason for being slotted as a late round pick. After watching him play, one thing stuck out — it is really hard to see him behind the line and then to actually bring him down.

You can’t simply try to shoulder tackle Cohen, you have to wrap him up or get a solid hit on his legs. I’m not saying he will be as good, but there is some Barry Sanders to him. Ping-pongs around until he can get a channel to run through, and with 4.42 speed, he could be gone in an instant.

Heck, his nickname is, “The Human Joystick”.

He fits with the Dallas Cowboys as a replacement for Lance Dunbar. Cohen has pretty good hands and has a ton of wiggle to his game. His size won’t hurt him if used as a change of pace back or in the passing game.

He reminds me of a lot of Darren Sproles with a splash of Lance Dunbar. He hasn’t had a lot of real competition, but he also hasn’t had a very good line to run behind. He is a true boom or bust style pick.
