Josh Malone, WR, Tennessee – Projected Round(s) – 5-7

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Malone pulled as early as the 4th round, but many people have him listed as a little later than that. One thing that could allow Malone to hear his name earlier is the blazing 4.40 40 time he put up.

As a returner and wide receiver he has the ability to blow people away with his speed. Since the Dallas Cowboys don’t really have a great vertical threat, but Malone could be the solution for that as well as a viable kick returner.

One issue with Malone is he seems to body-catch more than he needs to. Once he pulls the ball in, he secures it well and is ready to take off. His route-running could use some work, but as a speed guy, he could be used early on posts and crossing patterns.

He does have some really good hand catches that gives hope to him being able to break away from using his body as much.

He has great size at 6’3” and 208 pounds which, with his speed, makes him a nightmare for slot corners and slower safeties. He is willing to block and does use his body to shield receivers, but needs to work on a little more to his game than just being a speed guy.

He does try to come back for his quarterback when he needs to and will work back or across and not fear being hit.
