Week five — Sunday, October 8 vs. Green Bay Packers, 3:30 PM CDT, FOX

The Dallas Cowboys will play the second of two consecutive home games in week five and it offers a tantalizing rematch. The Green Bay Packers, who’ve taken the Cowboys out of the playoffs two straight times now, will return to the scene of their last crime in a game that will undoubtedly have a national audience.

While they did square off in the regular season at Lambeau Field last year, that’s the game nobody cares to remember anymore. The only one that mattered was the 34-31 Green Bay win in the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs.

Like many other games on the schedule this year, this one highlights the need for the Cowboys to upgrade the secondary. This time around, quarterback Aaron Rodgers should have a healthy Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb to throw to. In the offseason they also added former Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett, who won his first career Super Bowl last season with New England.

But last season, the Packers had a very vulnerable pass defense. Dak threw for 247 in the regular season and 302 in the playoffs against them last year.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant missed the regular season game, but certainly showed up in the playoffs. He hauled in nine catches for 132 yards in the losing effort. He can expect Dak to look his way a lot again in this game.

This game has all the makings of another shootout. Rodgers and Prescott will go toe-to-toe and likely combine for 700+ passing yards for the afternoon and the final score will likely combine for 70+.
