Week 12 — Thursday, November 23 vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 3:35 PM CST, CBS

Dallas will play their 50th Thanksgiving Day game this season against Hollywood’s newest football tenants, the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite both teams playing in the NFL since 1960, they’ve never met on Turkey Day. That will change this season.

Although the Chargers didn’t do much at all last season, they were kind of a lame duck team. Fans had already caught grumbling that the team was looking to move. Of course, they weren’t helped by fans rejecting a plan to build them a stadium and keep them around. But that’s a topic for another day, or even another site.

With them comes a new brand and an entirely new set of fans. Veteran quarterback Philip Rivers leads the offense after throwing for 4,386 yards in 2016 and he has a great, young running back to open the lanes for him.

Melvin Gordon enters his third season as the number one back in the Chargers offense. While he started a little slowly as a rookie, things picked up for him last season when he ran for 997 yards and 10 touchdowns. But they also played from behind a lot last season, which of course lowered his carries. The story for this game will be how he plays against the Dallas front seven. That, and another possible return of Romo.
