Dallas Mavericks 2017-18 projected starting lineup
Power Forward: Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk is returning for his 20th NBA season, and he still is contributing at a respectable level. The Tall Baller from the G came across some injuries last year, but still managed to average 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 54 games.
Thoughts about him transitioning to a bench role have come up every once in a while – and it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Having Barnes move to the 4, Wes slide to the 3, and Curry step up into the 2 makes sense for a small ball starting lineup.

However, Dirk still belongs in the starting rotation for now. He has shown no signs of wanting less minutes, even after verbally confirming that this is no longer his team. As long as he can play, the greatest Maverick of all time will have the starting power forward position locked down.
